62,478 Responses In 42 Days... 10 Times More Than The Most
Optimistic Projections
Before I'd ever heard of
Monopolize Your Marketplace, I had been doing freelance
copywriting for a small supplement company based in Canada for
a period of about 3 years. A friend living in Canada had
introduced me a company that had created a small line of
products that are mostly targeted at the bodybuilding crowd.
Since I am also an avid bodybuilder, I was completely
interested in helping them out, as its fun to get paid for
doing two things you absolutely love: marketing and
bodybuilding.
In early 2003, small supplement
company based in Canada launched a new product. What makes it
different from all the others on the market is that it actually
tastes incredible, and it combines three high class protein
sources with real freeze dried fruit pieces: it's literally
every dieter's dream.
The biggest problem, though, is
that it costs a little more than most other protein products...
but for a very good reason. Its quality is outstanding, and it
does not contain any of the hidden fillers so commonly found in
the ultra-cheap protein products that cram store shelves
everywhere.
The key part of this ad was that
it was based on two main principles of the MYM System: always
use a low-risk offer that is easy to see, understand and act
upon...and focus on creating leads, not just sales. The sales
will come later as you educate your prospects. This particular
ad offered two free samples to prospects so they could try it
before they bought the full-sized product.
So what happened next? The ad ran
in Muscular Development magazine hoping to get about 6,000
responses during the first year. But the results were much more
robust than that!

While this success is certainly
impressive, it hasn't been the smoothest ride. Since we planned
on building up to 6,000 leads in the course on 12 months, we
didn't have anywhere near that amount of sample kits to send
out to 62,000+ people. Not to mention that if we did, the
postage alone would've bankrupted us! As a last resort, we
decided to email all the rest of these people with a special
offer that immediately did produce respectable sales for
him...but it also ticked some people off who thought his
original offer for free samples was a complete scam! However,
it seems as though the fallout from that incident has finally
subsided."
